Heather Safferstone, Associate Designer

Hailing from Asheville, North Carolina, Heather realized her passion for interior decorating early while renovating her family home. Meticulous attention to detail mixed with an innate flair for design made Heather a perfect addition to Liz Levin Interiors’ design team in 2007. A graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill with a degree in Economics, Heather began her professional life at the Corporate Executive Board where she worked to establish client relationships and polish her abilities in project management. Motivated by her surroundings, Heather brightened her cubicle days by “wallpapering” with pink tissue paper.

Enjoying professional services, Heather’s fascination with interiors persisted. She completed coursework in the Corcoran College of Art + Design’s Interior Design program. Combining her creative enthusiasm with her head for business, Heather took on two design apprenticeships simultaneously with DC decorators Sally Steponkus and Liz Levin. Under their leadership, Heather blossomed into a new design force of her own right and quickly became well-rounded in her design approach. Drawing upon her clients for inspiration, be it a favorite shirt or family heirloom, Heather emphasizes creating an interior that is functional and beautiful. Mixing her clients’ life stories with their design ideals, she deftly delivers the very room they’ve been craving!
